The Coo-Wee Story
A Letter from our Founder
- Hi!
I’m Sara, Founder and Creator of Coo-Wee, the first ‘off the shelf’ personal urinary incontinence device.
For women, Urinary Incontinence is something that still isn't really spoken about, despite it being a common experience for 1 in 4 of us. Coo-Wee was born out of frustration. Frustration of not being able to be active, effortlessly go through daily activities and sometimes even just laugh out loud without worrying about unexpected leaks.
I’m in my early 40s, and being confronted with buying incontinence pads that are directed to a much older generation was unnerving. However, forgetting to “pad up” before leaving the house or before a fitness class was also not an option! Women of my age (and younger) are rarely considered incontinent, and I wanted to do something about this - and change the stigma.
I wanted to take a new and sustainable approach to an old issue and find a solution that was in line with the modern, conscious women. I knew that consulting with like-minded experts in the field would be a good step in the right direction, which is why I sought out the advice of Dr Danielle Stewart amongst others.
Passionate about women's and LGBTI health in rural communities, her nearly 30 years of experience in the health sector was critical to making my dream a reality. After years of research, design, consultation with panels of medical experts, hilarious conversations with my girlfriends and trialling several “interesting” prototypes…Coo-Wee was born!
On my journey I had discovered that all women’s incontinence needs were unique, making my final product one that aims to greatly improve, if not, eliminate leaks. Now I, and many women are back to enjoying leak-free activity with our innovative little devices.
My hope is that Coo-Wee will take one thing off your mind, and allow you to build the confidence to #ditchthepad forever!
Sara.

Our Medical Consultant: Dr Dani Stewart
Dr Danielle Stewart is Coo-Wee's medical consultant. Dr Dani has been a GP in the north of Australia since 1998, setting up her own practice in 2015. She has a passion for many areas including women's health, LGBTIQ and trans health and integrative medicine. She worked as an assistant surgeon to a gynaecologist and obstetrician for many years.
Her practice has had a pelvic floor therapist and physio since 2019, providing a very valued local service.
Dr Dani produced the Clinical Evaluation Report of Coo-Wee which allowed Coo-Wee to be listed as a medical device on the Therapeutic Goods Register. The detailed report found that based on the literature for comparable devices, the benefits of Coo-Wee in allowing women to effectively self-manage urinary leakage are significant and that safety is good. A detailed risk analysis was undertaken, examining dozens of scientific articles, to look at all feasible risks, from fingernails causing scratches to infections, silicone allergies and beyond!
Dani is very pleased to provide medical input into a truly Australian device that can have such a positive impact on women's lives.
Tamsin's Story
Urinary Incontinence can be caused by so many different reasons, but for me it was giving birth to three babies. I would pretty much say from my second daughter onwards I was unable to jump on the trampoline with her...
